My hosting provider uses a special setup for the linux kernels.

First the distro boots with grub2, what is not really standard, then you need to use the provided kernel because it's the only one to boot. All is compiled static, no modules.

You can as well boot from netboot on the same kernel. This can make some problems for such as firewall.

One have to search the provider web site for ftp new kernels.
